Introduction of digital tachograph digital tachograph vans (TMM > 2,500 kg)

In a rapidly changing market this year, it is extremely important for the logistics service provider not only to take note of the rapidly changing legislation, but also to give it a pragmatic twist within the internal organization on the basis of good timing.

For some time now, the management team of SJT Venlo BV has put the introduction of the tachograph obligation for vehicles with a TMM >2,500 kg high on the agenda, and today the workshop ‘Digital tachograph vans‘ took place at our location in Sevenum.During the workshop, Robbert Zwiep took us through this new legislation, in which, on the basis of dynamic discussions, we immediately switched to how the safeguarding of these new rules can be shaped within the internal organization. ‘Unfortunately‘ this theme does not end with following a workshop.Customers and other stakeholders will have to be convinced of the cost increases that this rule entails on the basis of a substantive explanation of the impact. And let‘s be honest, a customer is entitled to an extensive and well–founded explanation in a market where one new rule after another leads to a cost increase? Add to that the sentiment of high diesel prices and you quickly come to the conclusion that the introduction of the tachograph requirement for vans could lead to a toxic commercial cocktail.

At SJT Venlo BV, however, we are positive about analyzing the impact of such a new rule and entering into substantive discussions with our customer group in order to come to a common awareness and maintain the sustainable customer relationship.
